Aircraft Ground Transport Checklist

A planning guide for aircraft owners, builders, sellers, shops and receiving locations.

01

Define the road configuration

Work with the appropriate aviation professional to decide how the aircraft will be presented for transportation.

02

Measure the complete envelope

Record maximum length, width and height in the prepared configuration, not only published flying specifications.

03

List each major assembly

Inventory fuselage, wings, empennage, propeller, rotor components, fairings, crates, stands and other pieces.

04

Confirm weight and handling

Provide overall or component weights, rolling condition, support points and any known lifting requirements.

05

Prepare supports and protection

Arrange appropriate cradles, fixtures, stands, containers and covers for the aircraft and separated assemblies.

06

Control records and small parts

Keep logbooks, certificates, plans, keys and loose hardware organized under the owner’s control.

07

Inspect origin and destination

Verify gates, surface condition, hangar access, overhead clearance and space for the transport vehicle.

08

Plan qualified work after delivery

Have the people, equipment, documentation and inspection arrangements ready at the receiving location.

This checklist is not a maintenance procedure.

Aircraft disassembly, preservation, reassembly, maintenance entries and return-to-service decisions must follow applicable requirements and aircraft documentation through appropriately authorized personnel.
